Ferries connect twin Thai paradises

For those looking at luxury villas in Thailand, two of the most obvious sites - both renowned for their smooth beaches and warm waters - are the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui. And as The Nation reports, ferries can make it easy to travel between the two without dealing with a long ride or an expensive flight.

It can take all day to travel from Koh Samui to Phuket by road, even though the distance between them may not seem as imposing at first. Buses or taxis are available, but aren't private or comfortable.

In addition, while a flight between the two may make for the shortest trip, travelers still need to deal with all the traditional hassles of air travel.

However, the ferries that run between the two islands are on a regular schedule, take just 90 minutes each way and allow travelers to watch the ocean as they cross the distance between the two.

Phuket has earned a number of awards for its stunning draws. Late last year, it was named one of the top three island destinations in Asia by Conde Nast Traveler.
